Meet Holly The Locator: Voyage Denver Feature Interview
Written by Holly Van Keuren — Denver's Apartment Aunt, licensed Colorado Real Estate Broker, and newly featured local businesswoman who may have screamed a little when she saw the article go live.
I'm not going to pretend to be chill about this. When VoyageDenver reached out and asked to feature me as part of their "Exploring Life & Business" series, I did the mature, professional thing: I texted my mom, my best friend, and three former clients in rapid succession with approximately 47 exclamation points.
Because here's the thing — when you build something from scratch, when you leave the safety of a bigger agency to bet on yourself and your vision for what apartment locating should look like in Denver, being recognized by a platform that celebrates local business stories? That hits different.
What We Talked About in the Interview
VoyageDenver asked me about my journey, and I got real about all of it:
The "Before" Era: I worked in the apartment industry for years before launching Holly The Locator. I loved helping people find homes, but I was frustrated by the transactional, volume-driven approach. Renters were treated like leads in a funnel, not humans making one of the biggest decisions of their year. I kept thinking, "There has to be a better way to do this."
The Leap: I launched my own boutique locating service with a simple philosophy: treat every renter like family. Not "family" in the corporate-poster-in-the-breakroom way — family in the "I'm going to tell you the truth even when it's not what you want to hear, and I'm going to text you back within the hour" way. The Apartment Aunt was born.
The Denver Hustle: I talked about why finding apartments in neighborhoods like RiNo, LoHi/Highlands, and Cherry Creek requires an insider edge. Online listings don't tell you about management quality, noise patterns, or which buildings are running unadvertised specials. That knowledge comes from being boots-on-the-ground every single week — touring buildings, talking to leasing teams, and knowing which communities actually deliver on their promises.
Why This Feature Matters to Me (and Why I'm Sharing It with You)
I'm sharing this not to brag (okay, maybe a tiny humble brag), but because it speaks to something I care deeply about: trust.
When you're choosing an apartment locator — someone who's going to help you make a major financial and lifestyle decision — you should know who they are. Not just their website, not just their Instagram, but their story. Why they do this. What drives them. Whether they actually know Denver or just claim to.
I've lived in Denver my entire life. I've watched neighborhoods transform (I remember when RiNo was mostly warehouses and not a single rooftop pool in sight). I've helped renters from California, New York, Chicago, and Texas navigate a city they've never lived in — sometimes without ever visiting before signing a lease. And every single time, the "Found It!" moment — when a client walks into an apartment and just knows — reminds me why I left the big agency world to do this my way.
The "Found It!" Moment
This is my favorite part of the job, and I talked about it in the interview. Every client has a "Found It!" moment, and they're all different:
The travel nurse from Florida who FaceTimed me from her new Aurora apartment balcony at sunrise, literally crying because she could see the mountains from her living room
The tech worker from Chicago who'd been stress-scrolling Zillow for three weeks and told me, "You found my apartment in four days. I wish I'd called you first."
The young couple who toured seven buildings in one day (I brought snacks and water, because I'm an aunt, not a monster) and found their dream two-bedroom in Golden Triangle with a move-in special that saved them over a thousand dollars
These stories are why I do this. Not because apartment locating is glamorous (it's not — I've toured buildings in 100-degree heat and navigated parking garages that felt like escape rooms). But because helping someone find their home in Denver? That never gets old.

What's Next for Holly The Locator
The VoyageDenver feature came at a perfect time. Denver's rental market in 2026 is evolving — new apartment communities are delivering across the metro, concessions and specials are creating real opportunities for savvy renters, and the neighborhoods that were "up and coming" five years ago are now fully arrived (looking at you, RiNo and Central Park).
My focus this year is the same as it's always been: help renters find premium Denver apartments that actually match their life — not just their search filters. Whether you're a travel nurse on a 13-week contract, a remote worker relocating from out of state, or a Denver local who's ready to level up your living situation, I'm here for it.
And yes, I still text back. Usually within the hour. That's the Apartment Aunt guarantee.
